Coyote Butte South is not as well-known as the more popular Coyote Buttes North but it is more remote and personal. So far, I have two trips out to Coyote Buttes South. The first time I visited Paw Hole and loved the waves in the rock here. The road in is very deep sand and I slightly deflated my tires for better floatation on the sand. Then about a mile hike in the sand gets you to this remarkable place! Whew! The colors and lines just go crazy in all sorts of incredible patterns that are similar to "the Wave" of CB North. I thoroughly enjoyed this visit and found great photographic potential here.
My second trip was to White Pocket and a brief one because of 70 mph wind gusts, but I managed to enjoy it and plan to return. These pictures are are shown second in this gallery.
It was very hot. I went there in June and the sun was beating down. I found a shady spot behind this rock tower for my lunch and a reprive from the rays.
