Gordon Smith  > Landscapes > British Virgin Islands > British Virgin Islands (BVI)
The British Virgin Islands are a Caribbean paradise with great sunsets, green hills and a million shades of blue. These pictures are my favorite landscapes/seascapes from a sailing trip I took there. For a detailed travel description, please see my BVI Sailing Page. This gallery is more focused on my artistic impressions from the islands, and this is a very artistic and beautiful location, make no doubt.

It did take a bit of preparation to get good photography while traveling on a sailboat. There was limited room for camera equipment and a boat does not make a very solid footing for long exposures. But, I did my best and this is what I'm showing to you. Please enjoy!

Gordon Smith > Eternal bathers. These rocks have been taking a bath for centuries. This and several following pictures were taken at The Bath, which is a national park in the British Virgin Islands. I had the good fortune to catch a taxi at 5:30 in the morning and arrive here in the dark. I was able to enjoy the sunrise in peace and quiet. My wife joined me on this early excursion. It was a very quiet and special and very memorable morning.

Gordon Smith > The Baths #3. I feel like the black and white brings out the texture in these incredible granite rocks better.

Gordon Smith > The Baths #5. I tried to capture the waves crashing over this large boulder on the beach in this picture. Beautiful colors were present in the sky and the clouds as the sun was rising.
Gordon Smith > The Baths #7. I'm not sure if there is a prettier color of water then this beautiful green.
Gordon Smith > The Baths #8. There was a very large and stately ship anchored off shore.
Gordon Smith > This is taken from Devils Bay which is a short hike from The Baths.
