Gordon Smith  > Landscapes > New Mexico > Bisti Badlands
Bisti Badlands is part of the Bisti/De Na Zin Wilderness area. My pilgrimage to the Bisti Badlands included two journeys for sunsets, a sunrise and a full moonrise. The lunar landscape hypnotized and delighted to no end. One could explore here for weeks without seeing everything. I took a flashlight and GPS to help find my way in before sunrise and find my way out after sunset. Believe me, it's profoundly quiet and isolated.

Gordon Smith > The full moon rising over the Bisti badlands. I knew it was coming, but was so busy shooting the eggs that I was unprepared to get set up for any kind of good shot when the moon appeared and started to climb in the sky very quickly. This is the best one that I got.
