Hoopii waterfall with some selective coloring to a fallen tree that reached up from the deep plunge pool
Lower Hanawi Waterfall and it plunge pool is a remote, difficult-to-reach spectacle that defies description. The power, mist and noise pouring off into the gorgeous blue pool mesmerized me. The light rays coming over the waterfall brightly shone on the lush ferns covering the canyon walls. Fantastic!
Lower Hanawi Waterfall and the stream below it make for a fascinating subject. I spent 3 wonderful hours here alone with this gorgeous natural wonder.

Upper Waikani Falls, a.k.a. "Three Bears Falls"
taken with a tilt-shift lens, this photograph of the 3 bears waterfall has correct perspective, doesn't suffer from lens distortion of reality. The three waterfalls of varying sizes compliment each other well.
Moss-Covered Rock at Upper Waikani Falls (Three Bears Falls)
This view from the opposite cliff wall shows the three waterfalls in a different view from tradition. The mossy rock in the natural pool gives this place a zen quality!
Stone stacks added a zen-like serenity to the beautiful location as we arrived and basked in the Hawaiian beauty.
Spirit of Adventure
March 2012

Lower Hanawi Waterfall is a remote, difficult-to-reach spectacle that defies description. The light rays coming over the waterfall brightly shone on the lush ferns covering the canyon walls. The mist from the falls floated fall down the canyon. No other adventure has had such a huge reward at the end: This enormous waterfall was enjoyed by only myself for 3 hours. I had no visitors. Plenty of time for a swim and photography!

This photo is a photostitch of 4 different pictures taken with a 24mm shift lens (for perspective control and to avoid wide-angle lens distortion).
Along the 13 crossings hike (Makamakaole Stream) in West Maui some lush ferns and trees mix with large boulders.
